Visita a Quiltart...

El dia 18 de noviembre me fui , ¡por fin!, con dos amigas a conocer Quilt Art, la tienda de patchwork que hay en La Coruña, regentada por Neus y Tere. Aquella mañana solo estaba Tere alli y estuve un buen rato hablando con ella y viendo los maravillosos quilts que tienen expuestos y todas las cositas que venden, de las cuales me traje una "pequeña" muestra que podeis ver aquí. ¡Fue un rato superagradable!

On november the 18th I went, finally!, with two friends to visit Quilt Art, the patchwork shop in A Coruña, owned by Neus and Tere. That morning it was only Tere who was there and I spent a good time talking to her and admiring the beautiful quilts they have there and all the things they sell, from which I brought a "little" part that you can see here. It was a great time there!

Me traje una coleccion de telitas preciosas para mi Dear Jane, algunos botones de Tilda, otros botones y las asas para el bolso de Born to Quilt (que aun no empecé, ¡vaya desastre!), un boli para marcar la tela, alfileres paqueñitos para hacer aplicación, el pegamento para fijar la guata a la tela y unos protectores para el dedo de silicona para cuando se acolcha a mano que no salen en la foto porque ya los tenia guardados cuando la saqué.

I brought a colection of nice fabrics for my Dear Jane, some Tilda buttons, other buttons and the handles for the Born to Quilt bag (that I still did not start with, what a mess!), a marker to draw on the fabric, small pins for appliqué, adhesive spray to stick the fabric to the batting and some silicon protectors for the fingers when you are hand-quilting that do not appear in the photo because I had already kept them when I took the picture.

¡Y este libro increible de Yoko Saito que tenia tantas ganas de conseguir! Tiene unos proyectos preciosos, y es el que Neus ha usado para diseñar las casas que va a poner en su proyecto de cabecero de cama, segun tengo entendido, que le estaba quedando tan bien. Podeis verlas en su blog aquí.

And this incredible book by Yoko Saito that was so eager to find! It has beautiful projects and it is the one that Neus was using to design the houses that she is putting in her project of a headboard for a bed, as I understood, that is turning out great. You can see it in her blog here.

Simply Sophisticated Mystery BOM

Aqui esta por fin, el primer bloque del Simply Sophisticated Mystery BOM al que me apunté en la web de Fat Quarter Shop. En realidad tuve que hacer dos iguales, y ya los tengo listos, este es el primero que terminé hace unos días y al que le saqué la foto. Las telas son tan bonitas... todas de la coleccion Harvest Home de Blackbird Designs. Las vi en el blog de Mercedes y aunque ella consiguió resistirse yo no fui capaz... :) Y ahora tengo una amiga que vio el bloque terminado y decidio apuntarse tambien... y va a ser lo primero que haga en patchwork! ¿Os gusta?

Finally here it is, the first block of the Simply Sophisticated Mystery BOM I enlisted at the Fat Quarter Shop web. Actually it is two of those that I must make, and I have them ready, I just took a picture of the first one I finished some days ago. The fabrics are so beautiful... all from the Harvest Home Collection by Blackbird Designs. I saw it in the blog of Mercedes and though she could resist it I could not... :) And now I have also a friend that saw my first block and she decided to enlist as well... it will be the first thing she does in patchwork! How do you like it?

¡Por fin, la colcha de los ositos!

Por fin puedo enseñaros la colchita de los ositos que le hice a una compañera de trabajo que tuvo una niña preciosa llamada Sofia... hoy he ido a verla y se la he llevado y le ha encantado. Esta toda hecha y acolchada a mano y estoy muy orgullosa de como me ha quedado porque es la segunda cosa que he hecho en patchwork, y lo primero que llevaba aplicacion. ¿Os gusta?

Finally I can show you the little bears baby quilt that I made for a colleague from work that had a beautiful babygirl called Sofía... today I went to visit them and I gave her the quilt and she liked it a lot. It is all had stitched and quilted and I am very happy with how it ended up because it was the second thing I made in patchwork, and the first one using appliqué technique. Do you like it?

Regalo misterioso...

¡Adivinad que!... Acabo de llegar de casa de mi suegra de celebrar el cumpleaños de mi suegro y alli me esperaba un sobre gordote lleno de regalitos! Y muy misterioso.... porque no traia remite ni carta ni datos de quien los enviaba...

Guess what!... I just arrived home from my mother-in-law's where we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday and there it was, waiting for me, a big fat envelope full of presents! And very misterious... because it had no from: address nor a letter nor data of who was sending it...

Al abrirlo... sorpresa! Una libreta alterada de fieltro! Junto con otros preciosos regalitos: un llaverito de fieltro en forma de sombrero, un guardaagujas con dos tubitos de agujas de acolchar (del numero 11!!! son tan chiquitas! no las habia conseguido aqui aun... las mas pequeñas que tenia creo que eran del numero 8, que ilusion me han hecho!), y unos retalitos de telas superalegres!

When opening it... surprise! An altered notebook made with felt! Together with some other precious presents: a keyring made with felt in the shape of a hat, a needlekeeper with two tubes with quilting needles (from number 11!!!, they are so small! I had not got those here yet... the smaller I have I think they are number 8, it was so nice to receive them!), and some patchs of very cheerful fabrics!

• UNO: Soy medico de familia en formacion, ahora mismo en la mitad de mi 4º y último año, es decir que en mayo me darán el titulo y empezaré con la peregrinacion que nos espera a todos de trabajar un dia aqui, otro alla, guardia aqui, guardia allá... llamadas de un dia para otro (o incluso en el mismo dia) para cubrir el puesto de este o de aquel otro que estan de baja, se han puesto malos o no encuentran a nadie aunque está de permiso maternal desde hace 2 meses... Pero me encanta mi trabajo y seguro que lo llevaré bien, a la espera de algun contrato mas estable.
• ONE: I am a family doctor in training, now in the middle of my fourth and last year, that is, in may I will get my title of specialist and I will start the pilgrimage that is awaiting each of us, of working today here and tomorrow there, nightshift here nightshift there... phone calls from today to tomorrow (or even in the same day) yo go and cover the absence of this or that doctor that are on sick leave, became sick or they cannot find anybody else though the person you are to cover up is on maternity leave since 2 months...But I love my job and I am sure I will cope with it, waiting for a more stable contract.

• DOS: Durante la carrera de medicina vivi una experiencia inolvidable que me permitió conocer a estudiantes de medicina de todo el mundo y viajar un monton. En primero de carrera me anoté para formar parte de una asociacion de estudiantes de medicina que organizaba intercambios de practicas con otros paises y acabé tan involucrada que llegue a ser Secretaria General Internacional de la Federacion Internacional de Asociaciones de Estudiantes de Medicina (IFMSA e IFMSA-Spain). Fue un momento muy especial de mi vida que sin duda me cambio como persona y hoy lo que soy lo soy en gran parte por todo aquello que vivi, la gente con la comparti otras culturas y maneras de ver la vida y hacer las cosas, aprendi a relativizar problemas... me siento muy orgullosa de haber formado parte de todo aquello y de contar con amigos increibles en muchos paises aunque no nos veamos muy a menudo. Aunque en 1 semana una de mis mejores amigas, Gerlind, que es holandesa y que la conoci a traves de IFMSA, vendra a pasar una semana conmigo, lo estoy deseando!
• TWO: During my medicine studies I lived an unforgetable experience that allowed me to get to know medical students from all over the world and travel a lot. In my first year I enlisted an organisation that arranged practical exchanges with other countries and I get so much involved that I ended up being Secretary General of the Interational Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA and IFMSA-Spain). It was a very special moment in my life and no doubt it changed me as a person, and today I am what I am in a big part due to all that I lived, the people with whom I shared other cultures and ways of doing things , I learnt to give less importance to small problems... I feel very proud of having the oportunity to be a part of all that and to count now with amazing friends in many countries, though we do not see each other too often. Although in one week one of my best friends, Gerlind, who is dutch and I met her thorugh IFMSA, will come to spend a week with me, I am looking forward to it.

• TRES:Estoy felizmente casada desde hace 4 años, con un hombre maravilloso, Marco, y aunque aun no tenemos hijos tengo una fauna de lo mas variada en casa, dos perros y dos gatos: Lola, Roni, Mimi y Miko... que me alegran la vida ahora que mi marido por temas laborales esta un poco lejos (por suerte ya queda menos... en febrero vuelve, y se ha venido mi hermano pequeño a vivir conmigo esta temporada por motivos tambien laborales). Ademas tengo unos vecinos estupendos que siempre estan ahi para echar una mano, cuidarme y hacerme sentir bien, son ya... de la familia! Gracias Merce y Fon! Sois lo mejor!



• THREE: I am happily married for 4 years, with a wonderful man, Marco, and though we still have no children, I have a very diverse fauna at home, 2 dogs and 2 cats: Lola, Roni, Mimi and Miko... that cheer my life now that my husband is a bit far away for laboral reasons (luckily he will come soon... in february he will be definitely back, and my little brother came to live with me this period also for laboral reasons). Besides I have such incredible neighbours that are always there to give a hand, take care of me and make me feel good, they are... family! Thanks Merce and Fon! You are the best!
  
  
• CUATRO: Por supuesto como ya sabeis, me encanta la costura, una afición recién descubierta (tambien a raiz de la marcha de mi marido, para ocupar las horas muertas) hace poco, en febrero de este año. Me encanta el mundo del patchwork y ojala tuviera mas tiempo para coser! Recuerdo que cuando era pequeña usaba la caja de costura de mi abuela para hacerle vestiditos a las muñecas, me inventaba el patron yo solita a ojo! No recordaba eso hasta ahora que he recuperado esta aficion... :)
• FOUR: Obviously as you already know I like stichting, a recently discovered hobby (also due to the absence of my husband, to do something in my dead hours), in february this year. I love patchwork world and I wish I would have more time to sew! I remember when I was a little girl I used the sewing box of my grandma to make dresses for my dolls, I would create the pattern myself! I did not remember that till now that I just recovered this hobby.
  
  
  
• CINCO: Me encanta leer, sobre todo los libros de fantasia, del tipo Eragon, El señor de los Anillos, sagas como las de La Rueda del Tiempo, la Dragonlance, Cancion de Fuego y Hielo y tantas otras... Hay un libro precioso que presté y nunca recuperé que me dejó una sensación inexplicable y que estoy loca por encontrar de nuevo pero ya no lo reeditan, se llama El Ciervo Blanco (de Nancy Springer), tal vez lo encuentre de segunda mano en eBay o en Amazon. Tambien me gustan mucho los juegos de ordenador, sobre todo los multijugador online de fantasia (como no!) tipo Lineage o World of Warcraft. Soy algo freaky en lo que a esto se refiere jeje... lo se... Tal vez porque siempre me ha gustado el tema de la magia y me encantaria que de verdad existiese.
• FIVE: I love reading, specilly fantasy books, of the type of Eragon, The Lord of The Rings, series such as The Wheel of Time, Dragonlance, A Song of Ice and Fire and so many more... There is a charming book that I lent and never recovered that left me an unexplicable feeling and that I crazy on finding again but it is not reprint, it is called The White Hart (by Nancy Springer), maybe I can find it second hand in eBay or Amazon. Also I love computer games, specially fantasy multiplayer online (of course!) Lineage or World of Warcraft like. I am a bit freaky in this... I know... perhaps because I always loved magic and I would love it to really exist.
  
  
• SEIS: No me gusta la playa... ni el chocolate... que rara que soy verdad? :))))) Que va, me gusta la playa pero solo en invierno, para bañarme prefiero la piscina que no tiene arenas... y en lugar de pasear por la playa me gustan mas las caminatas por la montaña, el senderismo... soy de monte! En cuanto al chocolate, ni me gusta mi me disgusta... no me vuelve loca, prefiero algo saladito a los dulces. De hecho, cuando salgo a cenar por ahi, ni mi marido ni yo tomamos postre, solo café... siempre nos miran un poco raro en los restaurantes al no querer postre nunca jeje....
• SIX: I do not like the beach... nor chocolate... am I weird, am I not? :)))) Well, not that much... I like the beach but only in winter, to bather I prefer swimming pool, no sand... and instead of walking on the beach I prefer walking on the mountain, walking tracks... I am a mountain girl! Relating to chocolate, I do not love it nor hate it... I just do not get crazy about it, I prefer salty things to sweets. In fact when me and my husband go for dinner outside, we never order dessert, just coffee... they always look to us a bit weird in the restaurants because of not wanting dessert, hehe...

• SIETE: A mi tambien me encanta la India! Es uno de los dos paises que tengo pendiente visitar desde siempre (el otro es Irlanda, que cerca y nunca he ido). Me encanta la cultura asiatica, su arte... durante mis años de instituto tuve una amiga hindu a la que lamentablemente al casarse perdi la pista :( Hago yoga, colecciono tés... Y en mi luna de miel estuve en Thailandia y me traje muchas piezas de artesanía local... cuanto lo disfruté!...


• SEVEN: I also love India!! It is one of the 2 countries I am willing to visit since I remember (the other is Ireland, so near and never went). I love asiatic cultures, its art... during my high school times I have a hindu friend from which I unfortunately lost track after she married :( I do yoga, I collect tea... and in my honey moon I went to Thailand and brought with me many local art pieces... I enjoyed it so much!...

Intercambio A la Carta...

Y me acabo de dar cuenta, al subir la foto del intercambio de Najma que no habia llegado a poneros tampoco la de lo que le envie a Verónica de Perú en el intercambio organizado por Emilia! Que cabeza la mia, aunque con este mes que llevo...

And I just realised by uploading the picture of Najma¡s exchange that I never uploaded the one of what I sent to Verónica in Peru in the swap organised by Emilia! What a memory that of mine, though with the month I just had...

Pues aqui lo teneis, le hice un bolsito de patchwork (el primero que hago buf!) y le envie tambien alguna cosilla más: una revista de punto, unas cintas y unos botones... Me hubiera gustado enviarle mas cosillas pero la verdad no tuve mucho tiempo este mes... asi tengo todo atrasadisimo... ¿Que os parece el bolso?

So here it is, I made a patchwork tote (my first one, buf!), and I also sent some more things: a knitting magazine, some ribbons and buttons... I would have liked to send something more but to be honest I had not much time this month... that is how I have all so delayed... But what do you think of the bag?

Intercambio libreta alterada...

¡Por fin puedo mostraros el contenido del paquete que le envié a Sofia de Valencia (no tiene blog) en el intercambio Libreta Alterada o Biscornú organizado por Najma! Parece ser que a Sofia ya le ha llegado (se lo ha dicho a Najma) y aunque yo no he tenido noticias suyas pues espero que le haya gustado porque se lo he hecho con todo el cariño.

Finally I can show you the content of the package I sent to Sofia from Valencia (she has no blog) in the Altered Notebook or Biscornú swap organised by Najma! It seems Sofía has received it already (she told Najma) and though I had not news from her, well, I hope she liked it because I made it with all care.

Como podeis ver se trata de una libreta forrada con patchwork con la tecnica de aplicacion y luego le he enviado tambien unos pendientes hechos con cristales de Swaroski y algunas cosillas que me parecio que podia usar para hacer scrap (yo no hago scrap y la verdad no sabia muy bien que le podia ser util, espero que le sirvan).

As you can see it is a notebook altered with patchwork appliqué and also I sent a pair of earrings made with Swaroski crystals and some more stuff that I thought she might be able to use to do scrap (I do not do scrap and to tell the truth I did not have clear ideas of what could be useful for it, I hope they serve the purpose).
