¡Ay, que maravilla, el
curso de acolchado a máquina! A ratos me daban ganas de tirar la máquina por la ventana pero después a medida que íbamos haciendo ejercicios, ves que vas mejorando y te vas sintiendo fenomenal.

Nuria es una profe maravillosa, con muchisima paciencia y que nos explicó todo genial, incluso cosas de nuestras máquinas que no venían a cuento pero que no sabíamos. Aquí podeis ver el primer ejercicio, horrible, ¿verdad? Nos dijo que era muy difícil, que nos lo daba primero a propósito, jeje.
No need to say that Nuria is a great teacher, with a big amount of patience, and that she explained everything really great, even some stuff bout our machines that were naot really the theme of the course but we did not knew them. Here you can see the first exercise, horrible, isn't it? She said it was very difficult, and that she gave it to us as first on purpose, hehe.
Luego fuimos practicando distintos tipos de acolchado, con cuadros (que no había manera de que me salieran las lineas rectas y los angulos de 90, como podeis ver), con diagonales que se cruzan, (que me salía algo mejor), con espirales cuadradas (horrible...).
After this we practised several types of quilting, with squares (no way to get the lines straight and the angles of 90 degrees, as you can see), with diagonals crossing each other (it looked a bit better), with square spirals (horrible...).
¡Y por fin! Gusanitos.... en diversos tamaños, de más grande a más pequeño. Es cuestion de práctica, pero este diseño resulta vistoso y es sencillo de aprender, ahora solo tengo que conseguir que las puntadas me salgan todas iguales, que ni con el BSR. A veces si haces una arrancada muy rapida sale una puntada muy larga y si tardas en girar o te paras sin querer, hace bollos en la parte de atras, (que no os voy a enseñar para que no tengáis pesadillas esta noche jejeje...)
And finally! Little worms... in several sizes, from big to smaller. It is a matter of practice, but this design is at the same time beautiful and easy to learn, now I just need to get all the stitches with the same size, because I do not get it even with the BSR. Sometimes if you start too fast you get a longer first stitch and if you take too much time to turn or you stop unintentionally, you get little bumps in the back of the quilt, (that I won't show you so that you do not have nightmares tonight, hehehe...)
Los otros ejercicios eran sin pintar la tela, es decir, sin guía alguna. Estas grecas por el contrario estan hechas pintando sobre la tela. Un estrés.... ya veis que me voy fuera de la linea veintemil veces. Esto necesita muchísima práctica... Y....
The other exercises were freehand, no lines to guide you on the cloth. This designs on the contrary are made following the lines painted on the cloth. Difficult... you can see I went out of the line thousands of times. This needs lots of practice... And...
... veis lo que pasa por ir de guay y no poner imperdibles para fijar las telas a la guata? jajajaja... En mi defensa he de decir que no fui la unica a la que le paso jejeje.... (aquí veis un reves, horrible, ¿verdad?)

En esta ultima pieza veis lo poquito que nos dio tiempo a hacer con la pata de doble arrastre... ya ibamos mal de tiempo y debajo, la profe (lo hizo ella, no veis que está muy rectito), hizo un ejemplo de acolchado imitando el acolchado a mano. La gente que tiene la Aurora 440 (y no se si tambien la 430) puede hacerlo. Gasta muchísimo hilo pero queda precioso (por delante se ve discontinua y por detras lleva costura normal continua) y se hace con hilo transparente arriba y un hilo que se deslice bien en la canilla (rayon, hilos de bordar...) con bastante tensión para que tire del hilo de abajo y se vea arriba (¿lo veis en color naranja?, al ampliar la foto se ve mejor)
In this last piece you can see the little we managed to do in straight lines quilting... we were running out of time, and below it, the teacher (she did it, don't you see it is really straight?), she made an example of quilting that fakes real hand-quilting. People with the Aurora 440 (and I think also 430) can do it. It wastes a lot of thread but looks great (you can see on the front a discontinuous seam and on the back normal continuous seam), and you do it with transparent thread on the top of the machine and a thread that runs smoothly on the lower part of the machine (rayon, embroidery threads...), with enough tension so that the transparent thread pulls up the lower thread so that you can see it (can you see it in orange?, if you click on the image you can see better)
Y aquí la foto de grupo.... solo darle las gracias a Nuria por sus maravillosas explicaciones y por todo lo que trajo para enseñarnos, un quilt increible, varias muestras de acolchados, varias de sus "caras" que al natural son increibles, no les hacen justicia para nada las fotos de los blogs, y sus
ATCs, que son una obra de arte (tampoco les hacen justicia las fotos). Yo pensaba que las ATCs eran mas grandes pero son del tamaño de un cromo de los que coleccionabamos de pequeñas. Una monada, cuando vuelva a tener tiempo a lo mejor me animo...
And here the group picture... just say again thanks to Nuria for her wonderful explanations and for all she brought to show us, an incredible quilt, several quilting samplers, several of her "faces" that in real are incredible, the photos in the blogs do not do any justice, and her ATCs, that are a real piece of artwork (also no justice in the pictures). I actually thought the ATCs were bigger but they have the size of a picture card of those we used to collect when I was a small girl. Really cute, when I eventually have time again, I might give it a try...
